About the Author
Renegade fitness experts Sharny and Julius shot to stardom very quickly when their first book, Never Diet Again was released to the public in June 2011. The book was an adaptation of their step by step escape the diet trap program they created for their private clients. So successful was the program in changing people’s lives that the clients literally begged Sharny and Julius to make it into a book, which would be more accessible to friends and relatives overseas. After the release of Never Diet Again, the couple realised that while very successful, it was just another weight loss solution in a sea of thousands, if not millions of solutions. But people as a whole were still getting “fatter and sicker”. After much soul searching and deliberation, they decided that losing weight wasn’t the problem. The motivation for losing weight was the problem. Fat and unhealthy was the norm; healthy, athletic people were the minority. The word ‘fat’ had become offensive. Exercise was too much of a chore. That’s when they decided to write the book FITlosophy. In their words, it is “a collection of parables for athletes”. But after consuming it, readers agree that it is far more than that. It is a profound set of philosophical viewpoints that cut right to the heart of the human condition. Brutally honest, courageous, confronting, and often humorous, the stories told in this book reveal a part of the human psyche readers didn’t even know was there. FITlosophy will sit with the reader for a long time after the words have actually been read. In January 2012, they collaborated with renowned artist Ayesha Henderson to create a children’s book that had “beautiful bright pictures and an easy to read, but important message that they could share with their kids”. Never Diet Again

Never Diet Again is a book that is written by real people in order to help real everyday people look and reassess the life choices they make and how to change them and make life even better and feel better in the process. I cheated with this book and read through it first as I wanted to really read it and now I have started from he start and have been completeling the weekly tables...... and being honest about them! I have found the manner in which the book is written is very un offensive and thought provoking and dispells so many theories that I have practiced before. Now I see that what Julius and Sharny are writting about makes absolute sense. It's not a race but a change in attitude that will win in the long run. VERY WORTH TAKING THE TIME TO READ AND MAKE SOME CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE! I also hook in to their website sharnyandjulius.com which is great for exercise videos and just listening to them discussing different health and fitness topics. VERY WELL DONE!

Anyone interested in good nutrition should read this book. It is easily understood, well researched and interesting.I have lost 6 kilos since buying it and following it.You possibly know much of what is in here , as I did, but the book puts it all together as a user friendly package.

The erudite Lerer, whose Inventing English (2007) was enthusiastically reviewed in these pages, has now undertaken an ambitious, one-volume history of children’s literature. He begins in classical antiquity and ends with the salutary likes of Weetzie Bat (1989) and the Time Warp Trio, giving particular attention along the way—he being a philologist—to the language of literature, whether critical or narrative. Always in search of large ideas and overarching themes, he has what many may find an annoying tendency to pronounce (“The book now ends with bedtime—as all great children’s stories really do”) and to presume his reader’s tacit agreement, offering far too many propositions beginning “How can we not . . .” Nevertheless, Lerer does an extraordinary job of expanding our understanding of individual titles by richly contextualizing them in the world of their creation and stimulates readers’ imaginations by some surprising juxtapositions (Darwin and Dr. Seuss!). A Wealth Of Scholarship And Interest

I love to read and reread classic children's literature, ancient and modern. Seth Lerer has provided a highly scholarly but extremely accessible and enjoyable work on its history. I had some misgivings in purchasing this, because in my experience too much analysis can kill even the most fervent attachment. But I realized I had nothing to fear when I found chapter after chapter of absorbing information. I learned so much that I never knew about old favorites like Aesop's fables, and found so many unexpected connections, like the link between Charles Darwin and Dr. Seuss!

In a work covering such a broad field and span of time much must be summarized or barely touched upon. I would have loved to have read more about Harriet the Spy, for example. But this book was a delight to read and will be a treasure to keep and refer to again and again.

Interesting perspective on children's literature. Begins from the premise that children's literacy, and reading materials for children have gone back to the Greeks if not before. In addition to putting the literature of children in historical context, the author also delves into the various symbols and meanings which children's literature carries for all of us. Creative, scholarly, and incredibly comprehensive.

The book is very well structured, with references in every chapter and a valuable index at the end. High-quality color pictures illustrate the written text.

User Friendly-But what about us students?

This book deals on a very indepth level as to the inner workings of the family,and the assessment and interventions required to facilitate healing. I found the book to be very user friendly; it outlines the categories for assessment and intervention in a concise manner, as well as the diagramming of communication patterns which I found invaluable. For students it would have been beneficial for Wright and Leahey to include a completed CFAM and CFIM to give the reader a complete picture of the whole process. Overall, this is an excellent tool for any nurse to use in their practice.

Delivered when promised. This was a difficult read...primarily because it was boring. Was required to purchase this as a graduate student but I thought that it would be more appreciated at the undergrad level. It is not the author's fault that my instructor chose this text. If you can rent it, consider doing that.

Clear, concise and covers it all

Clear and concise explanations for all the exercises. Recommend getting Fischer's 2 videos as well (from his website), as they show clearly how to perform some of the exercises in this book. The only bad thing is Fischer is not there standing next to you to check your progress...

This book is a must have!

This book is just amazing. I am a viola player but I teach violin, and this book can be applied for both instruments. My professor at Florida State uses this book to teach and I find it very helpful in the practice room. The exercises are just great, and there really is an answer to all your questions somewhere inside this book. I can't imagine not having this book to complete my practice and teaching.

A must have for serious violinists

This text contains many little tips and tricks that will keep your left and right hands comfortable and ready, so that when it comes time to perform any piece you will be ready.

This is an easy to understand, start at the beginning or not type of manual, intended for students that are more advanced at playing violin. You can troubleshoot each issue you may experience by heading toward the chapter that discusses issues of playing - either at the bow or the instrument itself.

The pictures are spot on, and show many angles of many issues, with some right and wrong examples of holding the instrument, the bow, finger placement, etc. as well as giving you many measures of songs to assist in the practice of some difficult to play passages to help with your playing style.

Pick one of these up if you can, you will not be disappointed.

About the Author
Philip McMichael grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, and is an International Professor of Development Sociology at Cornell University. His book Settlers and The Agrarian Question: Foundations of Capitalism in Colonial Australia (Cambridge University Press, �1984) won the 1995 Social Science History Association's Allan Sharlin Memorial Award. He has also edited The Global Restructuring of Agro-Food Systems (Cornell University Press, �1994), Food and Agrarian Orders in the World Economy (Praeger, �1995), New Directions in the Sociology of Global Development (Emerald, �2005), and Contesting Development: Critical Struggles for Social Change (Routledge, �2010). He has served as Director of Cornell University's International Political Economy Program, as Chair of the American Sociological Association's Political Economy of the World-System Section, and President of the Research Committee on the Sociology of Agriculture and Food for the International Sociological Association. And he has recently worked with the FAO, IATP and UNRISD, the International Planning Committee for Food Sovereignty, and the international peasant coalition, La V�a Campesina.

A very straight forward book that does not waste time nor writing space to teach. Written in a very textbook style, McMichael still manages to fill the book with interesting examples and statistics to help readers understand the depth and real world consequences of the subjects he talks about.
